I loved this book. The ending was wonderful; especially when you think of who-dunnit. The love at first sight was incredible. The spanking makes one think twice if it’s a good or bad thing. Kept me in suspense of what was going to happen next.

First this can definitely be a stand alone book as this is the first one in series I have read but I will try and go back and read the first book as this one kept me entertained. This book is the kind I greatly enjoy as it has many twists, turns, mystery, suspense, sexual chemistry, erotic and disciplinary spankings and of course well rounded characters. If you enjoy this type of plot line and story I highly recommend this story.

Book two of The Kellers of Beaumont Falls was a great addition to the first book of Jordan and Tegan but can read well a stand-alone story. Jake Keller has avoided his family and their business, making his way in Nashville and is a well-known country music artist. He will come back to Beaumont Falls for some rest and relaxation, to enjoy his home, and visit with his family before his next tour.
Whitney Blithe moves from Utah to the quiet, quaint town of Beaumont Falls and lands her a job with the newspaper. What a shock when the elusive Jake Keller contacts the paper himself and wants to do an interview, but only with her.

The plot will have Jake coming back to town and seeing Whitney coming into the town diner he is at and learning from some of the older men who she is and where she works. As a man who never has believed in love at first sight, even if he sings those type of songs, he is enamored with Whitney immediately. Beaumont Falls is a town they have men who believe in domestic discipline, and women who submit, he knows that is how his parent’s marriage is, and it is what he wants, someday.

“This is what Jake wanted—a happy wife and a happy life. If it took putting his wife over his knee from time to time, he believed this was an acceptable way of keeping the peace.”

The interview with Whitney will have Jake holding the upper hand, throwing her off, keeping her on edge and full of unexpected surprises. Jake doesn’t dress the part of his country singer act, and he shocks her with his off-the-record remarks. But when he tells her about her needing a spanking, he can see a bit of shock with interest.

“But Whitney? She was different. The chemistry between them was electric. She was just feisty enough to be challenging. Plus, she had chosen Beaumont Falls over the big city. They were meant to be, he was sure of it. You couldn’t buy this kind of chemistry; it just came naturally.”

The story will bring up more of his past, with his best friend in high school, Kyle, that drowned in the lake. And now he and Whitney are dealing with an overzealous stalker fan who has now targeted Whitney, and the threat is serious enough that he must move her in the private family compound and his home. The danger has Whitney going off and letting her mouth get away with her, she disobeys his order, and he can’t let it pass.

“There was something happening between them. Chemistry, fated connection, magnetism? I won’t have my girl being disrespectful, or doing anything to hurt the trust between us. Honesty is a hard rule for me.”

When Jake learns that she hasn’t been completely truthful with him about her family, that will become a hard issue that he won’t let her get away with. Lies of omission are still lies. The story will take on life and death issues when the stalker attacks and Whitney refuses to listen when Jake is just trying to keep her safe.

The story has many spankings and a few sex scenes. There is plenty of mystery and suspense, with secrets, angst, acceptance, and forgiveness with an HEA ending. I look forward to more stories in this series.

Jake is the second book in the Keller's of Beaumont Falls but can be read as a standalone. The story pulled me in from the beginning with plenty of mystery and crime, as I found myself trying to figure out who the stalker was out to get Whitney. Add this to the romance and chemistry between Jake and Whitney and I could not put the book down from start to finish. The author showed an alpha male with old fashioned values in love with a woman trying to accept this way of life. There were laughs, love a lot of mystery, crime, passion, spankings given in love and plenty more. However, the ending was truly a surprise as the stalker was revealed! I highly recommend this book for a great night's read! I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.

4.0 out of 5 starsFORGIVENESS CAN ONLY HAPPEN WHEN THE WRONGS ARE MADE RIGHT

January 4, 2017

Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

Overall, I enjoyed the story that is a cross of two time periods, present day and the 1700s. The story is a mixture of hope, dreams, and new beginnings for those of present day and mystery, suspense, and murder in the past. These two time periods will come together at the Willowton Grove Plantation.

The story has some backstory on Mike and Callie Reashore and what has them moving from Boston to Harpers Ferry and purchasing a large plantation to turn it into an Inn and restaurant, and also to be closer to his family. Callie is bi-racial, her late father was black, and her mother is white (this plays relevance in the story.) Mike and Callie have a strong marriage, they were a couple during school and had the blessings of their families. They also are a bit adventurous and also practice mild domestic discipline.

Jumping back in time to the 1700s, the master of the plantation had bought Dixie Pearl (mulatto slave) to be a companion for his daughter, Cathy. Ryland Jefferson, son of Hugh and Margot Jefferson, has been away at school, but now that he is home, he has taken a liking to Dixie. When Hugh dies, Ryland becomes the new head of the plantation, has ownership papers for Dixie, frees her and then marries her against his mother’s wishes. The hatred of Margot Jefferson spins this tale into motion. “Two young souls defying the world for love. Is it wrong to be so happy, and so terrified all at once?”

Willowton is known to be haunted, and Callie will be the link between the past and present. From the house to paintings, a diary, and newspaper accounts will help solve a mystery and give peace. There is a large cast of characters, detailed information, some unique situations, and conclusion in the end. There are mild spankings, and detailed sex scenes.

Mira there were lots of new aspects to this book that I haven't seen in other's of this genre. It's always good to observe writers expand their abilities, and come up with new ideas, as I have.

This book is amazing. Set in two time periods, there are two stories that become intertwined through paranormal activity. The book is well written, evoking emotion early on and throughout. The mystery surrounding the ghosts, and what happened during their lives is captivating. The modern story has a great plot that's emotional, filled with love and fun, but not without sadness. I loved the biracial characters and the message they brought. I loved the historical aspect and the contrast with modern times. Personally, I don't care if a fictional book is historically accurate if it makes the story better. In this plot, the important points were accurate and I wouldn't change a thing. This book is a must-read for paranormal romance fans. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

The Diary of Dixie Pearl by Mira brooks
This is a story of Calista Rashore and her husband Michael . they moved from Boston to Harpers Ferry , West Virginia. After family members passed they had nothing to keep them in Boston . Calista’s mother Colette came with them . they bought a small plantation to turned it into a Inn and restaurant. The story so far starts out slow but after the family starts getting ready to open the inn things start to change. Things are strewn around and Cally starts having dreams of Dixie and her husband Ryland Jefferson. Dixie was a slave born of a white father and slave mother. But Ryland loves her.
This story once you get into it a ways has the best mystery I have read in a long time. the story is well written and sucks you in. Finally in the end the big surprise , you find out what Dixie wants, why she haunts Cally’s dreams. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and can honestly say it kept me on the edge of my seat through most of the book. It starts out slow but is well worth the wait. . I had trouble getting through the beginning but it wasn’t long and I couldn’t put it down. Very good read

This is a very unigue view that has parallels between multi racial relationships in 1780's and current era in the guise of a ghost story and an old diary. There are lots of similarities between old and current owners of a plantation estate. This story had love, hardships, domestic discipline , family dynamics and some mystery dealing with ghosts. At first I was not sure how much I would like this story since it was written as a couple remembering their courtship. This is not usually my favorite style of story; however, as the story got started I loved the book. I found Nico to be a little harsh but at the same time "Charlie" knew how to push his buttons and had to grow up a little quickly due to their progression of their relationship. Nico knew how to have fun but also knew his duty to his country. He had more life experience and wanted to guide " Charlie" where she needed to be. "Charlie" on the other hand was young, inexperienced, and trying to find herself all while falling in love for the first time. Overall the author wrote a wonderful story. There was relationship conflicts, old loves, family acceptance or lack thereof, passion, lust, lots of love, and many spankings!! I highly recommend reading this fairytale romance and enjoying Nico and "Charlie" as they life through their ups and downs!! Note: I received this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Mira Brooks, and I will definitely be on the lookout for more. The book begins with the aged King and Queen telling their great grandchildren how they met. I personally am not a fan of the "look back" beginning of a novel, as I feel like I know the ending even before reading the story. That said, the book is well-written and entertaining. Both the spankings and the love scenes were moderate. I also enjoyed the fact that Nico decided to marry Charlie right away, and he was strong and unwavering even when she was stressed or had doubts. I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.

Nico’s Princess

5 for the story, 3 for the grammar mistakes. There are some real doozies in the story of misspellings, which I found threw me out of the story which was very good, and made me annoyed. And I really enjoyed the story. Set in Sweden, of which I know nothing, but with an “American” princess of the 1920s. I was a bit confused with the story in the beginning, as it talked about great grandchildren , which was pretty much irrelevant to the story. However, I liked it better when they went back to it at the end.

Prince Nico sees Charley when she’s singing in a tavern and wants to meet her. She has to get home, and he blackmails her into seeing him. I received this as an advanced reader, and liked the story. However, I am wondering why the men seem to end up too strict and too bullying in order to be in charge. I liked Charley’s feistiness and the fact that she didn’t back down. What I’m not as sure about was Nico’s arrogance. Yes, he’s prince, but it’s rather off that he pretty much decides to marry her, and she really has no choice. She doesn’t like that, and I’m not sure that I wouldn’t be the same, especially since he didn’t really court her.

However, I liked the story and I would recommend you read it. Just watch out for the homonym errors which will throw you out of the story and make you regroup.

This is a different and unique beginning to a new series that has history, mystery, suspense, sci-fi, romance, dominance, submission and immortality. From modern day Texas as a successful business CEO or as Pharaoh Ramesses II, Ari is a powerful and dominant man. He is fair, respected, and reasonable, but he expects obedience and submission. Iset has been his wife since 1270 B.C.; even as a slave she had a spunky streak to her, but she has knows her place. They have retained their youth and immortality as The Enlightened, here on earth as guardians. But what happens when Ari starts received emails that hint as to his past and present and threats are being made? Iset is jealous of his required attention to work and Ramsey International and may have put her and him in jeopardy. The plot kept me captivated, going back to 1270 BC and how they met. The dialog is entertaining and keeps the pages turning. This is the first of a series and I look forward to reading more.

Let me preface this review by saying that I'm not overly fond of so-called "spanking" books, but I read a wide variety of books and I enjoy a well told story, even if there are aspects of it that I may not care for. Being familiar with one of the writers and always on the look out for new authors, I decided to take a chance on this anthology. First of all, most of the story telling is subpar. Second, even in " domestic discipline" there has to be a relationship and established consent, which is missing in several of these. And lastly, a father spanking his grown, married daughter's is just creepy with a big red "Ick" flag, I don't care who you are or where you live.
